Coming this fall, Old Saybrook High School Drama Club is proud to present Little Women as their play for the 2025-2026 season! Performance dates are the 14th, 15th, and 16th of November.
Little Women is a world renowned novel published by Louisa May Alcott in 1868, adapted for the stage by Thomas Hischak in 1995. This coming-of-age story follows the lives of the four March sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy, and their mother, Marmee, as they navigate through love, loss, gender inequality, and the trials and tribulations of Civil War-era New England. The wholesome bonds of sisterhood show how they found their identities and worked their way through the struggles of life.
The director, Mrs. Nicole Willis, could not be more thrilled to put on such an amazing production! After expressing the love for the book all her life, it was her first ever directorial experience- and she loved it. Willis states, “This exact show brightened my passion for directing.” She is striving for the show to be as period appropriate as possible, straight down to the details. When asked what her spin on it would be, she said, “There’s nothing particularly unique about my interpretation, my main goal is to make everything as authentic to 1860-1890 as possible. [Staying accurate to the time period is] more immersive for actors and for the audience, all around better experience.”
The cast consists of 16 incredibly devoted and excited student actors, including Shelby Pauloski playing one of the leads, Meg March. Shelby says, “this story is such a wonderful classic, and it’s so exciting to see how Mrs. Willis presents it on our stage”.
Keep an eye out for tickets to see this beloved classic come to life!
