This year, OSHS welcomes a new science teacher, Mrs. Forshaw! Mrs. Forshaw brings her experience from previous local jobs at the Marine Science Magnet High School, Groton Middle School, and Lyman Memorial High School. However, though she is new to OSHS as a teacher, she is not unfamiliar to this school: Mrs. Forshaw’s grandfather was a teacher here at OSHS many years ago.
To Mrs. Forshaw, teaching was always a skill that came easily, which led to her dream of being a teacher from very early in her life. Mrs. Forshaw states, “I wanted to become a teacher because I always enjoy…teaching people, and I always had the passion.” As a teacher, Mrs. Forshaw specifically hopes to create a fun and hands-on environment. Furthermore, she hopes to “integrate relevant topics into her classroom and foster interest in science”. Sophomore Karly Schneider who is in Mrs. Forshaw’s biology class commented that Mrs. Forshaw’s teaching style is “engaging”. Furthermore, “She teaches in a way where she makes sure that you understand whatever we are learning about, which is super helpful as a learner.”
According to Mrs. Forshaw, teaching here at OSHS has been amazing so far! This school year, Mrs. Forshaw is excited to learn more about her students, and also to “get to understand each of the classes I’m teaching and kind of develop it into my own in a way.”
