The start of the school year marks the beginning of fall sports including soccer, football, field hockey, cross country, and more. After a slow start to the year, opening with two losses, the boys soccer team got a highly deserved 3-1 win against East Hampton on the 9th and another 3-1 win at Hale Ray on the 12th. Captain Joshua Roslonek states, “Starting the season off with the two losses was difficult to come around to, but overall, they may be a contributing factor to success this season. We can’t underestimate anyone and we have to play as a strong unit to get done what everyone knows we can accomplish.” Staying with soccer, the Lady Rams started off the season blazing hot, with a 8-0 blowout win against Windsor Locks on the 6th, with 5 different Rams scoring. Cross country took a trip to Martha’s Vineyard for the Vineyard XC Invitational, placing 18th out of a huge pool of 28 teams, on September 6th. Senior Runner Cassandra Garcia states, “The course was rather challenging, especially with the heat and dust, but I think that everyone did pretty well especially with it being our first meet of the season. Everyone has so much potential and I’m excited to see how we, as individuals and as a team, improve as the season goes on.” The field hockey team is looking to bounce back after a hard fought 0-8 loss to a currently undefeated Westbrook team, which was on the 2nd.
