Old Saybrook High School’s Spring Production of Mean Girls

Old Saybrook High School is excited to announce its upcoming production of Mean Girls. Performances will take place on March 6th, 7th and 8th at 7:00PM in the school auditorium. Tickets are available to purchase online by scanning the QR code above, by phone: (860) 395-3175 or at the door. The price is $15 per ticket.

Mean Girls follows a girl named Cady Heron, who has just moved from Africa and has been home-schooled her whole life. When she gets to school, she befriends Janice and Damien who warn her about the “Plastics” who are the most popular kids in school, led by Regina George. Janice, Damien and Cady eventually think of a brilliant plan to sabotage Regina and her friends by using her smarts to outwit them. Will their plan succeed, or will it crash and burn in Cady’s face?

The show is directed by Nicole Willis, who is directing her first ever musical at Old Saybrook High School, and musical direction is by Jeremy Milton. Willis expressed her views on how the musical is going so far. Willis stated, “Mean Girls is a cultural phenomenon that most people, both young and old, have some experience with. It’s been really fun to bring the story to life on stage. The kids are doing an amazing job considering that this is an extremely high energy show. You will be dancing along in your seats.”

The show features a group of about 50 talented students involved in both cast and crew. This group includes junior Mikayla Pace as Cady Heron. Pace expressed her views on her character and said, “I feel like everyone who has experienced high school can relate to Cady one way or another, and it’s been such an honor to portray her in our production of Mean Girls. It’s been over two decades since the original movie came out, yet it aged remarkably well when it comes to portraying the culture, especially how easy it is to change yourself to try and be more appealing to others.”

The cast also includes senior Marcus Swain who plays the Principal, Mr. Duvall. Swain also expressed his views on the show and said, “Mean Girls is the epitome of a fun show, with a soundtrack that absolutely rocks, a brilliant cast, a well involved ensemble and humor that’ll entertain on every night. It’s totally fetch.”

Join the cast and crew for an unforgettable night of singing and dancing in March as Cady finds out where she truly belongs at her new school.
