With a new year comes new names and faces. Mr. Gbunblee joined OSHS this year as a special education teacher, and is excited to impact this small high school community. Mr. Gbumblee was previously a student-teacher at Middletown High School, before he took a break from teaching. He chose to teach at OSHS because he wants to get back into teaching in high schools, and here at Old Saybrook he was given the opportunity. Mr. Gbunblee specializes in working with tenth to twelfth grade students in the special education program.
New teachers tend to fit in great at OSHS, and Mr. Gbunblee’s long term goal at OSHS is to “get comfortable here, get to know the students and just contribute, honestly,” Gbunblee says. Seeing that Gbunblee strives to connect to the students and the community, fitting in at OSHS will be simple for him considering sports games, field days, bake sales, and other community based events held at the high school. Luckily, Mr. Gbunblee has contributed his time and effort into school events in the past, specifically, on the sports fields . “I coach football at Waterford High School…I enjoy that,” he expresses as he describes what he does in his free time. Along with coaching football, Mr. Gbunblee also finds interest in traveling and going on vacations.
