As the 2025-2026 Old Saybrook High School (OSHS) year comes to an end, many students look forward to a particular event: Prom. Prom is an end of the school year dance event that involves dancing, food, music and photos.
On May 16th, students took to Amarante’s Sea Cliff in New Haven, where the hybrid indoor and outdoor venue was beloved by students. As students started to enter the venue, they were welcomed with a dance floor and tables each named after a beach or park in Old Saybrook. Some students chose to stay inside or went to sit at tables and seats outside., where they were greeted with the ocean and a colorful sunset.
Senior Julian Gage says, ”The whole venue was very cool but being near the water, the pictures turned out really good especially during sunset. Overall everything went really well and was well put together.” Many students were fairly satisfied and surprised with the food they were able to pick with the buffet style dining. “There were many different choices to choose from. There were tacos, hamburgers, tater tots and many different small foods.,” says junior Jack Bollmann. One thing that gave a boost in this year’s food reviews was the ice cream sundae bar, served after the main courses of food. For music, the venue had both a DJ and a live music band. Everyone seemed to enjoy the live band performance as, ”it was really cool seeing them perform live and getting them involved. I enjoyed staying away from the traditional only DJ party,” said Julian Gage. Overall many students were really happy with this year’s prom venue, food, and music, making the ticket price worth every last penny, a previous complaint in years prior.
