When I joined Rambler my freshman year, it was much more because I needed a resume booster than because I had a passion for writing. The first article I ended up writing was for the April Fools edition. My friend Kyela and I decided to write about the “pool on the roof”, and I remember genuinely enjoying writing this article.
After that, Kyela and I continued to write articles together every month. We covered pretty much any topic, including the poetry column one edition with “Feining for Fall”, which I still personally think was some of our best work. We ran into our fair share of controversial articles as well, with our article on the ethics of the chicken project and the infamous homecoming article of fall 2023. Eventually, I started to write articles on my own as well.
I have really appreciated the opportunity Rambler has given me to write, especially since I’ve always taken more math and science classes than english. I have stuck with Rambler because it is a place where I can write with so much more flexibility in my articles, not only when it comes to the topics I’m writing about but also the ways in which I’m writing. Overall I’m so grateful for the ways Rambler has made me a better and more passionate writer.
